The skies threatened rain all day, but the precipitation held until about the last hour or so. All groups were able to finish their rounds by about 7 p.m., with only minor inconvenience from Mother Nature.

The winning low gross team was "The Titans," who scored an impressive 13 under par 59. Team members included Tom Basile, John O’Brien, Mike Laga, Bob Gardner, and Steve Booth.

Former major leaguer Mike Laga also won the putting contest as well as the closest to the pin contest on the 2nd hole—a tough par 3. Laga’s tee shot was only 1 foot away from the cup.

The low net winners consisted of the team of Mike Fusick, Bill Marinone, Rick Marinone, Dave Jackson, and Greg Marinone. After factoring in their handicaps, the team’s net score was 55.4.

Other individual contest winners included Jim Wrabel, who won the longest drive contest for men with a drive measuring about 320 yards. Jim also was closest to the pin on the par 3 8th hole, coming to within 3 ft. 9 inches of the cup.

For the women, Lynn Marinone won the closest to the pin contest for both the 2nd and 8th holes. Heather Huebner won the longest drive competition for women.

An awards banquet with food catered by Suffield Country Club followed the competition. The food was plentiful and delicious. Many former classmates and teammates from years ago had a chance to renew acquaintances at dinner, share memories, and talk about their games.

It was great fun. A raffle, run by affable club pro Stan McClellan, followed the awards. The big winner of a new set of Ping irons was Ken Olinsky.

A number of current Hall of Famers were on hand to support the event including Bob Norris, Stanley Szwed, Paul Harvey, Dave Farr, Phil Devlin, Mike O'Connor, Coach Dan Sullivan, and Ted Holmes.

Hall of Fame committee member and principal organizer of the event, Tom Landry, thanked the crowd for their support and generosity.

He also announced that this year’s induction ceremony will be held on  November 25, 2011, at the .
