Windsor Locks Girls Tennis Gets First Win Since 2009

The team defeated Enfield on Wednesday.

Windsor Locks Girls’ Tennis earned its first win of the season 4-3 over Enfield in a very close NCCC match at Enfield High School Wednesday.  Windsor Locks #3 Singles Junior Julie DellaGuistina won the deciding match in straight sets to clinch the victory.  Windsor Locks #4 Singles Senior Amy Wetzel also won in straight sets.

Windsor Locks #1 Doubles Senior Ali Martinez and Jr. Tianna Duquette won in straight sets and #3 Doubles Junior Charlotte Zocco and Shrinkhala Swaroop (her first career win) won in straight sets.
 
In a match featuring two of the top players in the league, Enfield #1 Senior Catherine Oliver defeated Windsor Locks #1 Sophomore Cristina Szepanski 4-6, 4-6.  Windsor Locks #2 Singles Junior Carolyn Vo and Windsor Locks #1 Doubles Junior Jenn Rivera and Junior Diane Vo lost hard-fought three-set marathon matches.

First-year Windsor Locks coach Jon LeBlanc acknowledged former coach Brian Dube and volunteer coach Jim Nussbaum for helping to develop the team’s players, but mostly credited the commitment and dedication of the team’s players for the team’s first win since 2009.
