Windsor Locks Public Schools Appoint New Administrators

David Prinstein, the new middle school co-principal, is among the appointees.

The Windsor Locks public school system announced Thursday a number of administrative appointments for the upcoming school year.

The appointments include the following:

David Prinstein was named the co-principal of Windsor Locks Middle School until Dec. 31, 2013. He will take over as the sole principal on Jan. 1, 2014, when fellow Co-Principal Gregory Blanchfield retires.

Prinstein joins the school system from New York City, where he was the assistant principal in the Bronx and Upper East Side for six years.

At the Board of Education meeting on Thursday, Prinstein said that he has had a great first month, comparing it to a restaurant’s “soft opening” by having the time to get things ready for students and teachers next month.

“Everything has been great; I have no complaints,” he said. “I am very happy to be here.”

Joshua Robinson was named the interim director of special services. He previously held the position of assistant principal at Windsor Locks High School.

Regina McGillivray takes Robinson’s place as the assistant principal of Windsor Locks High. She has worked at Windsor Locks High for 16 years, most recently serving as the dean of students.

Mark Wursthorn takes McGillivray’s place as dean of students at Windsor Locks High. He was the director of guidance at the high school before his new appointment.

Finally, on Thursday the school board unanimously approved removing the interim tag from Susan Bell. She is now the full-time assistant superintendent.

“I am truly excited for the new appointments and changes to our administrative team,” Superintendent of Schools Wayne Sweeney said in a press release. “Each new appointment will contribute to a very successful administrative team who is ready to serve the students and families of Windsor Locks.”
