UConn Graduates 36 Windsor Locks and East Windsor Residents; Awards 7,000 Degrees

Students received degrees ranging from bachelor's to doctorates during a weekend-long ceremony on the Storrs campus. Congratulate your graduate right here on Patch.

A total of 17 East Windsor and 19 Windsor Locks residents earned their degrees this weekend, according to a press release from UConn, with honors ranging from a bachelor’s degree through complete doctorates. To see who earned which degrees, see our complete list below.

Honorary Degrees

The university awarded eight honorary degrees to individuals who have shown leadership in their chosen fields.

They are: Jeffrey Immelt, Chairman and chief executive officer of General Electric Corp., received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree and delivered the graduate ceremony commencement address; Wally Lamb, author, received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree and delivered the commencement address at the Neag School of Education; Dr. Ferid Murad, winner of the 1998 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, received an honorary Doctor of Science degree and spoke during the Health Center commencement, and Jerry Adler, actor and director, received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree and delivered the commencement address at the School of Fine Arts.

Also, Charles Zwick, philanthropist and former director of the Federal Office of Management and Budget, received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree and served as keynote speaker at the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources commencement, and Elizabeth Shanahan, executive director and CEO for the Society of Women Engineers, received an honorary Doctor of Science degree from the School of Engineering where she delivered the commencement address.

Gary Bailey, internationally recognized leader in the field of social work, and Lyudmila Harutyunyan, known as the ‘mother of Armenian social work’ each received honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degrees during a special ceremony sponsored by the School of Social Work on May 11.
The following East Windsor residents earned their degree this weekend:

  • Alison Baker, Bachelor of Science;
  • Samantha Dagesse, Bachelor of Arts;
  • Nour Farooq, Bachelor of Arts;
  • Trine Kroll, Bachelor of Arts;
  • Jordan Reaves, Bachelor of Science; and 
  • Leanne Tweedie, Bachelor of Science.

The following Broad Brook residents earned their degree this weekend:

  • Stephen Andrusko, Bachelor of Science;
  • Rebecca Crosby, Bachelor of Science;
  • Brittany Demers, Bachelor of Arts;
  • Alexavier Estrada, Bachelor of Science;
  • Alexandra Griffin, Bachelor of Science;
  • Elizabeth Hoang, Bachelor of Science;
  • Nikolay Kolev, Bachelor of Science in Engineering;
  • Valeri Kolev, Bachelor of Science in Engineering;
  • Jennifer Peck, Bachelor of Science;
  • Stephanie Piekos, Bachelor of Science; and
  • Bryan Sneider, Bachelor of Science in Engineering.

The following Windsor Locks residents earned their degree this weekend:

  • Gabriella Benea, Bachelor of Arts;
  • Steve Bujak, Bachelor of Science;
  • Joohi Butt, Bachelor of Science;
  • Joshua Clouette, Bachelor of Arts;
  • Cheyenne Cohagen, Bachelor of Science;

  • Michael Engelmann, Bachelor of Arts;
  • Sejal Faldu, Bachelor of Science;
