O’Reilly, principal for two years, believed in the district’s mission to inspire the school community to achieve their full potential through continuous improvement and a rigorous curriculum, taught by outstanding educators, Fox said in statement posted on the school system's website late Tuesday afternoon.

“I know he is proud of the creation of a block schedule, the initiation of Professional Learning Communities, Student Spotlights, and making the school an academically-focused environment,” Fox said in the statement.

Assistant Principal Helen Thomas will be in charge of leading the school through the remaining days of school with the support of the faculty and staff of the East Windsor High School and the cooperation of the students.

Graduation will go on as planned at 6 p.m. on June 24 at La Renaissance on Route 5.  The Graduate and Celebrate substance free party will start at 9:30 p.m. at East Windsor High School.

A search for a principal will start in a few weeks. A search committee will be formed  and officials hope to have a new leader in place by August, Fox said.

In the meantime, summer vacation is coming, she added. This will be a very busy summer for the office staff.

“In addition to welcoming a new superintendent, Dr. Theresa Kane on July 1, we will have to hire a new principal at the high school, and an assistant principal at Broad Brook School, along with some new teachers and non-certified staff,” Fox said in a statement.  “With these changes, we anticipate that next year will be a nice fresh start for the East Windsor Schools.”
