East Windsor Girls Basketball Makes History, Advances to Class S Semifinals

The Panthers defeat No. 2 Cheney Tech-Manchester 54-50 in the quarterfinals.

For the first time in school history, the East Windsor High girls basketball team will play in the state Class S semifinals.

The 10th-seeded Panthers earned their place in the Final Four with a gritty 54-50 victory over No. 2 Cheney Tech (Manchester) at East Catholic High on Monday evening.

Guard Melissa Wabble led the Panthers with 13 points.

The town showed its support with residents attending the game en masse, with reports of three quarters of the crowd comprising East Windsor supporters.

The Panthers (16-5) will take on No. 3 Thomaston (20-2) in the semifinals on March 8 at a site to be determined.

East Windsor - powered by Makinsey Carolus, Madison Carolus, Wabble, Ashley Gallant and Molly Gallant, among others - has made the most of its postseason run, advancing to the quarterfinals for the first time in 10 years and now making history by playing in the semifinals.
