East Windsor CMT and CAPT Scores Released

School officials see growth and improvement in some areas.

East Windsor Public school officials said they are very excited with the growth and improvement in scores from last year.

Grades 4, 6 and 8 demonstrated significant improvement. Each of the aforementioned grade scores met or exceeded the state average, officials said in a press release.

Grade 3 scores continue to be of concern and point to the need to improve the early literacy skills of our students. Therefore, the district will submit the Alliance District Grant application for the addition of three reading teachers, Superintendent of Schools Theresa M. Kane said in a press release.

These new positions, in addition to the current reading teacher, will be assigned to grades K through 3. The Alliance District Grant is for $168,335 and is awarded to the 30 lowest performing districts in the state.

Although there is a need for continued improvement, the turnaround efforts implemented in the 2011-2012 school year are working, Kane said. With the implementation of the new district Strategic Plan, additional strides are expected in the 2012-2013 school year.
