Colleges Recognize Local Students For Academic Achievements

COLCHESTER, Vt. _  Jacob Pelletier, son of Alan and Anthelena Pelletier of Broad Brook was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2011 semester at Saint Michael's College.

 Pelletier is a Sophomore Political Science and Sociology and Anthropology major at the liberal arts, residential Catholic college located in Burlington, Vermont, one of America's top 10 college towns. Students who complete a minimum of 12 credits and achieve a grade point average of at least 3.4 at the end of a semester are recognized for their scholarship by inclusion on the Dean's List.

Pelletier graduated from East Windsor High School before coming to Saint Michael's.

FAIRFIELD, Ct._  Amanda Ferrari of Broad Brook was named to the fall 2011 Dean's List at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield. To receive this honor, a student must achieve a 3.6 grade average, based on a 4.0 scale.

Sacred Heart University, the second-largest Catholic university in New England, offers more than 50 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs on its main campus in Fairfield, Connecticut, and satellites in Connecticut, Luxembourg and Ireland. More than 6,000 students attend the University's five colleges: Arts & Sciences; Health Professions; University College; the AACSB-accredited John F. (Jack) Welch College of Business; and the NCATE-accredited Isabelle Farrington College of Education.

HAMILTON, N.Y. _  Jennifer Lynn Calzarette, a member of the Colgate University Class of 2014, has been inducted into the Colgate chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, the national scholastic honorary society that recognizes the outstanding academic achievement of first-year students.

Calzarette received the prestigious distinction for having earned a grade point average of at least 3.5 during the 2010-2011 academic year. A banquet was held in honor of the approximately 150 students who qualified.

Currently a sophomore at Colgate, Calzarette, is the daughter of Mr. Alan J. Calzarette Mrs. Linda A. Calzarette of Broad Brook.  Jennifer Lynn Calzarette is a graduate of Simsbury High School.

Phi Eta Sigma was founded in 1923 at the University of Illinois. The Colgate chapter received its charter in 1982.
