Wyman: State Seeking Nominations for the Connecticut Veteran's Hall of Fame

Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman, along with Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, is urging all Connecticut citizens to consider submitting a nomination for the Class of 2011 by the Sept. 30 deadline.

Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman today announced that the state is seeking nominations for the Connecticut Veteran’s Hall of Fame, which recognizes distinguished veterans who have made significant contributions to their communities after leaving military service.

Nominations for the Class of 2011 are due by Sept. 30. All Connecticut residents are encouraged to nominate a qualifying veteran.

“This is one of the most lasting ways we can thank and honor those special patriots who stepped up to defend our nation and, when they returned home, remained fully committed to improving the lives of others,” Wyman said.

Approximately ten Connecticut veterans, living or deceased, are inducted each year based on recommendations from an executive committee and final selection by the Governor. Sixty-two current and former citizens of Connecticut have been inducted to date, including five recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor.

“These men and women are natural leaders and role models and are an inspiration to all of us," according to Gov. Dannel P. Malloy. "The Hall of Fame is a great way to give them the lasting respect and recognition they deserve.”
