A past president of the Windsor Locks Lions Club and former president of the Chamber of Commerce, Russo currently serves on the Windsor Locks Economic and Industrial Development Commission, as well as the Windsor Locks Capital Improvement Committee. Russo is the founder of Russo Lawn & Landscape, Inc.

Russo pointed to an unresponsive and irresponsible government as his motivation for entering the race.

“The legislature just repealed the death penalty even though a Quinnipiac poll showed almost two-thirds of Connecticut residents support it," Russo said in the release. "This is the same legislature that passed the largest tax increase in Connecticut history onto residents during a time where families are struggling to make ends meet through no fault of their own.”

“Over the months ahead, I intend on listening to and speaking with as many voters in the district as I can.” Russo continued. “Not only will I talk about my ideas, but I will listen to the ideas the voters have.”

When asked about his ideas, Russo spoke briefly about bringing a responsive, pro-growth, and less obtrusive government agenda to Hartford.

“The legislators need to decrease spending while creating a better economic environment to help facilitate businesses to put people back to work," Russo said in the press release. "Our focus needs to be on putting more money into the pockets of our senior citizens, families, and businesses rather than feeding the Hartford bureaucracy.”

Russo was quick to mention that while this is his starting point, he is excited about listening to the residents.

With over twenty years in business and many years volunteering throughout the community, Russo said he intends on bringing a “residents first” approach as he seeks to be the 60th District’s Representative to the General Assembly.
