Windsor Locks Budget Fails by 1 Vote

For the second time this budget season, Windsor Locks residents rejected the finance committee's adopted budget.

Tuesday's referendum yielded a slim victory for those in opposition of the spending plan, as just one ballot represented the vote differential.

The rejection came despite over $.5 million in cuts to the board of education and police department funding requests.

According to the registrar's office, a recount will be held Wednesday afternoon to confirm Tuesday's result.

The vote total was 559 "no" votes to 558 "yes" votes.
