Original story:

Voters have been sparse today in Windsor Locks and East Windsor polling places for the Republican Presidential Primary.

By about 1 p.m. at Windsor Locks Town Hall 53 people had voted in the primary. Registrar Douglas Hamilton said he was not surprised by the low turnout after Republican candidate Rick Santorum pulled out of the race.

Hamilton said he’d heard a television news report that the state was expecting about a 20 percent turnout for the primary. He said he wasn’t sure that Windsor Locks two polling places would see that turnout.

In East Windsor, by about 2:30 p.m. there had been 56 voters at the town hall annex polling place, officials said.

“Unfortunately, it’s because everybody figures it’s over,” Registrar Linda Sinsigallo said. “We still have a chance to get delegates at the convention.”
