Tell Us: What Do You Think About The Topless Dancer Proposal in Windsor Locks?

Here's your chance to sound off on how you think about the proposal to change Pool Table Magic from a billiards hall to gentlemen's club.

A plan to transform a pool hall on Ella Grasso Turnpike into a gentlemen’s club with topless dancers has caused a minor uproar in Windsor Locks.

An application by Mark Kulungia, filed on behalf of the Pool Table Magic's business owners, has caused the planning commission to consider an outright ban on such establishments and a grass roots community group to form and take to Facebook in opposition to the plan.

On Thursday night, the planning commission rejected the proposal, but on a technicality, not on its merits. Kulungia did not file the correct application and must instead seek a special use permit to be able to have topless dancers at the pool hall.

In his initial application, Kulungia wrote that the owners want to "present a type of live entertainment at its business premises to include presentation of First Amendment-protected dance performances which contain... an emphasis on sexuality."

A public hearing on the issue had been scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight (Feb. 11), but was canceled after the planning commission rejected the initial application. Instead, tonight commission members will discuss whether to instill a moratorium on adult-oriented businesses.

So, tell us what you think of this whole process. Should the owners of Pool Table Magic be able to include sexually explicit dancers at their establishment? Why or why not?
