Patch's Poll: Does CT's Primary Matter?

There are four names on the April 24 ballot, but Mitt Romney is the de facto nominee. Is Connecticut's presidential primary moot?

Republicans will go to the polls on April 24 - at an estimated cost of $1 million - to vote for their presidential candidate to face Barack Obama in November. One name on that ballot, Rick Santorum, has already dropped out. Another, Newt Gingrich, has admitted in interviews he is out of the running. And a third, Ron Paul, is barely even mentioned as a contender anymore.

Mitt Romney is the de facto nominee for president for the GOP, even though states are continuing to hold primaries and caucuses. Av Harris, spokesman for the secretary of the state's office, said the total cost of the primary is about $1 million, paid at the local level by the 169 towns hosting the voting.

Is it worth it to spend $1 million on a race that has already been decided? Take our poll and add your thoughts in the comments.

Harry thats the best argument you can come up with? no wonder ron paul can't get the much needed support. Romney uses his middle name just as Grover Clevelend, Woodrow Wilson and Calvin Coolidge all did as well. So its really not some big deal. How about focusing real issues to help convince people to vote Paul instead, there are much better arguments in his favor.

Ok, John. Valid point... Ron Paul is for freedom. Ron Paul is for Liberty. Ron Paul is for bringing the troops to our homeland, and securing OUR country. Ron Paul is for smaller goverment. Ron Paul is for cutting $1 trillion in government spending in the first year elected. Ron Paul is for auditing the Federal Reserve. Ron Paul is for free trade. Ron Paul is for peace. Ron Paul has read the US Constitution, and wants to restore it. Ron Paul wants manufacturing back to establish jobs. Ron Paul is FOR THE PEOPLE! Ron Paul is MY President.

You hate your homestate because it has late primaries? I hate the states who have early primaries. A bunch of hicks in Iowa, centrists in NH and slack-jawed morons in SC pick the nominee. Your hate is misplaced.

Congrats! You hit the trifecta! Invoked people who aren't even running, mispelled the president's name, were sure to include his sCaRy middle name AND put for the false dichotomy that only Republicans and anti-Obamas are "patriotic." You're the best.
