Letter: Support Judith Rajala For East Windsor First Selectman

Robert Lyke endorses the unaffiliated petition candidate.

Only the Democratic Party in East Windsor has endorsed a candidate for First Selectman.  Another Democrat changed his party affiliation to petition his way on the Republican ticket, but the Republicans did not endorse him.  People want a change in how our town is governed, regardless of party affiliation.

I am not for change, just for the sake of change.  I've voiced feelings about the town budget process not working, and Iʼve made suggestions to the present Boards of Selectman and Finance regarding Director of Finance, a Human Resources Officer position, and a professional “commissioned” developer, but nothing positive has resulted.

Three outgoing members of the Board of Selectmen, are publicly endorsing the present First Selectman.  It is an obvious display of complacency and business as usual.

I am part of a large group that feels like our participation and constructive criticism has fallen on deaf ears.  That is why I am voting for change in East Windsor on November 8, and to that end I support Judith Rajala for First Selectman.

The primary qualification Judith possesses to effect positive change, and create a long term business plan for East Windsor, is her ability to communicate. 90 percent of communication takes place with our ears, and I find Judith to be a good listener.  As a project and account manager with a high profile global company, Judith has the skills and experience to produce a 3-5 year business plan for our $30,000,000+ business and our 10,000+ shareholders.

Most voters know the difference between a micro manager and a leader.  I plan to follow Judith into battle in the next four years.  She faces formidable challenges in the budget and planning board rooms, as well as opportunities to improve the spirit of the troops on the front lines.

Profound, positive changes in our local government will be appreciated when we realize that Judith leads by example. When we all begin to work together as team players and trust is restored, we will all reap the benefits of living compatibly in our progressive rural community.

Party memberships and symbols are mere icons, and there is descent and division in the two major parties at the national level that trickles down to our two voting precincts in East Windsor.

Join me in uniting our community by electing unaffiliated candidate Judith Rajala as our next First Selectman.

Robert K. Lyke, Jr.
