Letter: First Selectman Steven N. Wawruck Jr. Seeks Voter Support

The Democratic incumbent asks voters to re-elect he and Selectman Joseph Calsetta.

To the residents of Windsor Locks:

When I sought the office of First Selectman and Joe Calsetta for Sectman, we made a committment to make Windsor Locks a better place to live. Our enthusiasm, dedication and energy has not diminished since being elected. We knew the issues facing our Town couldn't be changed overnight and welcomed the challenge and today we are more energized by the progress that has been made.

We have refurbished and opened up the second floor of Town Hall to allow better access for our residents to conduct their business. We made the Senior Center easier to access with handicap accessible door systems.

After 20 years of neglect we have a new Animal Control facility on Staton Road.
At Pesci Park pool we have a new bathhouse and a new skateboard facility at the High School grounds for our youth to enjoy. We also have some of the best sports playing fields with lighting for night games.

We continue to do major road projects and we replace outdated sanitary and storm drain lines along with working in partnership with the Water and Gas companies to minimize road cuts once a roadbed is completed. We have also replaced deteriorating amesite type sidewalks with much better cement based sidewalks for pedestrian safety.

In addition to all that we successfully petetioned DOT to eliminate the proposed Truck Rest Stop on Old County Road. We worked with our State Representative and an active group of residents to secure the easement rights to over two hundred acres of open space for all to enjoy when the Ct Water Co abandoned their well fields.

We have been actively working with the State DOT in reconfiguring the Rt 20/75 interchange and are near final agreement to bring the Train Platform back to the center of Town. Both of these projects will allow for future business growth of our Grand List which will allow for a stabile tax rate. I also have been at the Legislature numerous times testifying to keep the PILOT funding that is due the Town from being reduced.

Most of the above projects have been subsidized with the award of Federal and State grants totaling over seven million dollars that have come back to Windsor Locks in the six years we have been in office.

These are exciting times to be a Windsor Locks resident and everyone should be proud of the gains we have made.

We assure each of you that if reelected to another term in office we will continue to be totally committed in making Windsor Locks a better place for all to live and enjoy.
On Nov 8, please vote for Steve Wawruck and Joe Calsetta

Steven N Wawruck, Jr
First Selectman
