Have A Question About Sequestration? #AskJoe!

Second District Congressman Joe Courtney has been taking questions about sequestration this week on his Facebook and Twitter.

Who doesn't have questions about sequestration (which, by the way, takes effect Friday)? What is it, what does it do, why is it happening, what does it mean to me and my wallet?

Second District Congressman Joe Courtney, the Democrat from Vernon, has been soliciting constituent questions all week on his Facebook page and Twitter account. He is answering those questions both on Facebook and his YouTube channel.

Among the questions being asked are:

  • I'd like to know why we aren't hearing more about the ratio of cuts to tax increases.... why must we keep cutting, but the rich only had an incremental tax increase.
  • How might this  impact the many children with special needs in our public schools with support services through federal dollars.
  • How will it affect CT's defense industry?
  • Why doesn't congress just repeal the Sequester law? They should get down to work making decisions as to what should be cut and do it in a rational intelligent way.

If you have a question about sequestration, log onto one of the congressman's many social media outlets and ask!

Wow, talk about softball questions! Questions I would like to ask is: Joe Courtney, did you vote for sequestration? Joe Courtney, How come the current administration counts the end of the Iraq war as a cut in Budget (as the administration states it was never budgeted)? If I were to build a home this year and spend $200,000. Well obviously for the next 10 years I would not be building that same home. Using the same fuzzy math used by the administration, I would be saving the govenrment $2 million over the next 10 years by not building that same house over and over again. Please explain how that was a budget savings. Joe Courtney, How come our current spending is 30% higher than when we ended the Iraq war? When the war ended, how come we are not seeing those savings? Joe Courtney, has your budget increased in the past 4 years, and if so by how much? If not, then how do you claim to be a representative of the people if you cant even cut your office budget? Joe Courtney, the Congressional Budget Office states that the cost of flying Air Force One is roughly $180,000 per hour. As such, as our representative, how do you feel when the President flies down to Florida for a golf weekend that costs the taxpayers over $1 million? I could go on all day. I guess the point is Congressman, if you are going to release a video, I would be grateful if you address the big boy questions and not the fluff.

A typical D.C. two-step, dog and pony show if ever there was one, containing carefully-vetted questions guarenteed not to have Grampa Joe put on the spot.

Joe Courtney is just another example of whats wrong with Washington. Misdirection and distraction is all this is. None of them want to honestly discuss the real issues, pust point fingers at each other. We haven't had a balanced budget since the almighty Obama took office

I went outside and took a long hard look. Planes were not falling from the sky because air traffic control had stopped. The police are still driving around and I even saw them stop a couple of people. EMS services still seem to be working. There are people at the fire department. Teachers are still holding class. I am just curious to know exactly what we are being gyided away from seeing and hearing about with all of this "panic" over sequestration. It is not unusual for this administration to pull the old "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain." So what is REALLY going on?

We haven't had a budget at all "since the almighty Obama took office"!! When he proposed one, he could not even get one DEM vote! This is truly funny, and sounds like Adele singing! Worth a listen and sharing--you will get a good chuckle: http://dailyrushbo.com/rush-let-the-skyfall-sequester-parody-song/
