East Windsor Residents to Vote Today on $35.4 Million Budget

Budget calls for a 3.69 percent spending increase over current levels.

Voters will go to the polls Tuesday to decide on the proposed $35.4 million budget for the 2013-14 fiscal year that will increase spending by 3.69 percent.

The budget contains $20.9 million for schools, representing a 3.97 percent increase over current levels, and $14.5 for general government, which is a 5.2 percent increase.

If approved the mill rate would increase from 24.7 to 30.3 mills. That increase, however, does not mean that a resident’s taxes will increase accordingly, due to revaluation of properties.

Some residents will see an increase in their taxes, while others will realize a decrease.

The polling places will be open during the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. District 1 is at the Town Hall Annex, 25 School St., while District 2 is at the Town Hall, 11 Rye St., Broad Brook.
