East Windsor Planning and Zoning Commission Postpones Discussion on Proposal Again.

Town officials have applied for a special use permit to stockpile construction material at the East Windsor public works facility.

The East Windsor Planning and Zoning Commission delayed action on a proposed special permit for the town to stockpile construction material at the public works facility.

Town Planner Laurie Whitten said not all of the information needed for the discussion was available for Tuesday’s meeting and a commission member wasn’t going to be there as well. The issue is scheduled to be discussed at the commission’s October 23 meeting, Whitten said.

The material is road millings provided to East Windsor free of charge, town officials have said. Public Works Director Leonard Norton told the planning and zoning commission in July that the material is used basic maintenance of town roads, parking lots, etc.

Residents have expressed concerns that material may have runoff that will get into their water wells. They have asked for opinions from the North Central Health District and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
