East Windsor Forms Task Force to Study Energy Efficiency

The 18-month task force will study ways to reduce energy costs for the Town of East Windsor.

East Windsor selectmen Tuesday created an energy efficiency task force that will last for 18 months.

The five-member task force will meet monthly to research and recommend to the board of selectmen any energy efficiency programs, grant opportunities, state or federal energy incentives and renewable energy solutions. The purpose of the task force is to research and recommend to the board of selectmen opportunities to reduce energy costs on the town.

According to the ordinance creating the body, “Viable projects should be researched to the point of being “implementation ready” in an effort to be ready for grant opportunities as they arise.”

The idea for the task force came from Selectman Alan Baker, officials said. The ordinance will become effective on October 22.

“It looks good,” Selectman James Richards said. “I don’t see how it could hurt.”

Members of the task force will also research and publicize to East Windsor residents any energy efficient programs, grant opportunities, state and federal energy incentives, and renewable energy solutions that may be beneficial.

The task force will report to the board of select men on at least a quarterly basis, First Selectwoman Denise Menard said. Selectmen will choose the members of task for at the next board meeting.
