East Windsor Board of Selectmen to Ponder IDs for Town Officials

Selectmen want to know who should be carrying official East Windsor identification.

East Windsor selectmen are expected Tuesday to discuss which elected officials are and should be carrying town identification badges.

The discussion is an outgrowth of a from some town constables who want official identification from the town. The want the IDs so they can pursue jobs such as serving legal papers.

At their July 3 meeting, some selectmen questioned who had badges in the town and why they need them. Selectman James Richards said during the meeting for instance he doesn’t believe police commission members should have ID badges because their job is to be managers of the police department.

“I think we need to pull in all of the IDs,” Richards said.
