“Gary is consistently the lead legislator on promoting jobs, economic development and improving our business climate. As chair of the Commerce Committee, Gary has had a hand in shaping the state policy on economic development and job creation,” Rojas said. “He has advocated for a state commitment to the Groton area submarine base, which helped save it from the federal budget axe. He has helped shape and modify tax credits for job creation; he lead the effort on making major investments in biotechnology, stem cell research and alternative energies such as fuel cells.”

“Most recently he asked to be appointed to the Higher Education Committee because he understands the importance of linking workforce development and job creation,” Rojas added.

In accepting the nomination, LeBeau said he was humbled by the praise of his colleagues and constituents. He promised to continue his work on continuing job creation.
