Connecticut Seeking Comment About New Terminal at Bradley International Airport

Terminal B would be demolished for a new facility.

 

A press release from the state Department of Transportation:

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT)is announcing that the Environmental Assessment/Environmental Impact Evaluation (EA/EIE) for the New Terminal B Passenger Facility and Associated Improvements at is now available for public review and comment. A public hearing will be held August 2, in Windsor Locks.

 
The proposed project is subject to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the Connecticut Environmental Policy Act (CEPA). Under these two acts, the preparation of an EA/EIE is required as part of the overall environmental process. This is Project No. 165-393.

This joint document is being published by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and CTDOT.  The EA/EIE can be viewed online at www.ct.gov/environmentaldocuments 

"The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) proposes to construct a new passenger terminal in the area occupied by the existing Terminal B at Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Windsor Locks, Connecticut," the document says. "The existing Terminal B complex would be demolished for construction of a new Terminal B and associated airside and landside improvements to provide airport facilities that would meet future air travel demand. Construction of the proposed improvements would occur in phases, with completion of the initial phase anticipated by 2018 and full-build anticipated by 2028."

Copies are also available at the , the , the Suffield Town Clerk’s Office, the Kent Memorial Library in Suffield, the East Granby Town Clerk’s Office, and the East Granby Public Library, as well as, the Capitol Region Council of Governments and the Connecticut Department of Transportation. 

A notice has also been published in the Connecticut Environmental Monitor dated July 3.
 
It should be noted that no decision concerning the construction of this proposed project has been made. The public will have the opportunity to comment on the EA/EIE during a 45 day comment period beginning on July 3 and ending on August 17.      

Comments can be submitted at dot.environmentalplanning@ct.gov or by mail to: Mr. Mark W. Alexander, Transportation Assistant Planning Director, P.O. Box 317546, Newington, CT  06131-7546. Comments may also be submitted verbally, or in writing, at the public hearing on the EA/EIE, scheduled for August 2, 2012.
 
Should a decision be made to move forward with the new terminal, the existing Terminal B complex would be demolished for construction of a new Terminal B and associated airside and landside improvements to provide airport facilities that would meet future air travel demand. Construction of the proposed improvements would occur in phases.
 
Key elements of the program include a new terminal building with concourses, a modified roadway system to access the terminal, new approach roadway alignments, a new parking garage and consolidated car rental facility, airside aircraft parking aprons and taxi lanes, airside and landside utilities, and power generation to the new terminal.

Look at our deficit Dan -there IS NO MONEY. Maybe Dan should have thought of that before giving the money away by the millions to bring a few jobs in here and there -especially those already here or Fortune 500 companies for pete's sake! You have taxed us to death. You pushed to put in a distribution center 150 feet from my house -no value there. You are going to destroy our health with the contaminated land contaminating the residents wells, they will have to breathe it during construction. Once built the residents will be subjected to carcinogenic diesel fumes 24/7/365...save money to care for us as we will be on your disabled pool soon...UNCLE!!!!!
