Windsor Locks Teen One of Four Involved in UMass Rape Case
Caleb Womack, 18, is accused along with three other young men of raping a female student at the college last year.
In the latest legal move in a rape case involving a local teen, lawyers for Caleb Womack and three other defendants are seeking records from the victim, a female student at the University of Massachusetts.
Womack, 18, and three other men from Pittsfield, Mass., are charged with raping the woman in her UMass dorm room in October of 2013. None of the four men were students at the university. The four men are free on bail.
One of the lawyers representing the men has filed a court request for the victim's Facebook records for six months before and after the alleged rape. A judge is considering the request.
Prosecutors and the victim are opposing the demand for records, according to the Daily Hampshire Gazette.
“It is the Commonwealth’s position that the affidavit submitted in support of the motion contains third-level hearsay about any potential relevant records that might exist at Facebook,” the Gazette quotes the DA’s office.
