Windsor Locks Man Charged with Dealing Drugs to Minors at Local Park

Windsor Locks police say they have charged a Windsor Locks man with dealing drugs to minors, after approaching him at Noden-Reed Park and discovering dozens of grams of marijuana and cocaine.

Police say 19-year-old Jose Maldonado was among "group of several youths smoking marijuana" at the West Street park. 

Once approached by police, Maldonado reportedly told police he dropped a marijuana cigarette and, upon being searched, was found to be in possession of 44.2 grams of marijuana packaged for sale and 1.98 grams of cocaine, police say.

According to police, Maldonado was also in possession of a scale, $650 in cash and a police-style baton.

During the police response, a 16-year-old was found to be in possession of four ounces of marijuana.

Maldonado was charged with sale of marijuana, sale by a person over 18 to a person under 18, possession of under 4 ounces of marijuana, risk of injury to a minor, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cocaine and carrying a dangerous weapon.

He was released from custody after posting $25,000 bond. He is set to appear in court on July 24.
