Weekend Police Car, Motorcycle Collision Under Investigation

Both officer and motorcyclist were treated and released from hospitals.

A collision between a Windsor Locks police officer in a police cruiser and a local motorcyclist Saturday is still under investigation, police said.

The crash took place at 9:27 p.m. on Saturday in the vicinity of 182 Spring St., according to police records. Both men escaped serious injuries, Capt. Chester DeGray said.

The exact details are being worked out by the State Police accident reconstruction team, DeGray said. Using the state police or a regional accident reconstruction team is standatrd procedure in such accidents, he said.

The officer, Andrew Dziergowski, was sent to Bay State Hospital, where he was treated and released, police said.  He is back at work.

The motorcyclist, Donald McPherson of Windsor Locks, was taken to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, where he was treated and released, police said.

The cruiser's door was damaged in accident, DeGray said.
