Traffic Checkpoint in East Windsor on November 16

Metro Traffic Services will be helping East Windsor police check for seat belts.

In conjunction with Metro Traffic Services, the East Windsor Police Department will be conducting a seat belt safety checkpoint on South Main Street from 8 a.m. to noon on November 16.

Funding for this event is through a grant provided by the state Department of Transportation. Officers from South Windsor, Windsor, Vernon, Coventry, Enfield, Glastonbury, Bloomfield and Windsor Locks will participate with this checkpoint.

The enforcement period will run from November 14-26. During mobilization, officers will be cracking down on motorists both day and night. Seat belt use saves thousands of lives each year across America. In 2009 alone, seat belts saved 12,713 lives nationwide.
