Teen Involved in Fatal East Windsor Crash Has Case Continued Again

The 19-year-old South Windsor woman who is facing manslaughter charges for her role in an accident that killed two teens over Memorial Day weekend again saw her case continued in Manchester Superior Court on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013. 

South Windsor resident Sara Ballard, who is free on a $50,000 bond, was scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court for an arraignment today, but the case was continued for a second time to Sept. 30, 2013.

Ballard was charged in June with two counts of manslaughter in the second degree with a motor vehicle, two counts of assault in the second degree, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and reckless driving.

According to police, Ballard was driving in excess of 80 miles per hour on Abbe Road on May 25 when she lost control of her vehicle and left the road.

According to the arrest affidavit, Ballard had been smoking marijuana earlier in the evening.

Two teens - Matthew Masse, 18, of Vernon, and Brooke Wormstedt, 15, of East Windsor - died in the crash. Two other teens were injured.
