Suspicious Powder Found at Bradley Car Rental Facility

Bradley International Airport emergency units responded to the discovery of a suspicious white powder found at the Budget car rental facility on Schoephoester Road in Windsor Locks Thursday afternoon, according to Bradley representative John Wallace.

Wallace said a text message was received from a Bradley operations office disclosing that an envelope containing a white power was discovered at the rental facility.

Airport firefighting units and additional personnel were dispatched to the scene, said Wallace, who added that the discovery is having no effect on airport operations.

The facility is not associated with the airport, but is located on land owned by the state, according to Wallace.

Law enforcement agents are also involved in the investigation, said Wallace.

According to the Windsor Locks Police Department, the Budget facility does not fall under the local department's jurisdiction.

A security officer at the facility's entrance declined to comment Thursday afternoon, saying neither he nor Budget staff are permitted to discuss local company matters.

As of 3 p.m., there was no visible presence of law enforcement at the facility.
