Promotions Continue at Windsor Locks Police Department

The Windsor Locks Police Department continued its efforts to improve command structure Wednesday when it presented the promotion of two department members to the police commission.

The commission voted to approved the promotion of Sergeant Cliff Smith to Lieutenant and Officer Sebastian Garofolo to Sergeant.

"Both of these men have the respect of the community, the commission and their peers. They are both going to have a large role in the restructuring and revitalizing the police department," Police Commission Chair Kevin Brace said of the two men who are lifelong friends, having grown up together in Hartford.

"It is really fantastic thy they were both promoted on the same night," added Brace.

Garofolo and Smith have eight and nine years on the force in Windsor Locks, respectively.

According to a report presented by Police Chief Eric Osanitsch, the promotions leave two vacant sergeant positions in the department.

Candidates for those two positions, Osanitsch said, will likely be presented to the commission for approval by the commission meeting in August.
