Plane Lands in Tree in East Windsor

Pilot was uninjured but had to be rescued by firefighters Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters had to rescue the pilot of an ultralight plane that landed in a tree east of Mourning Dove Lane, near Newberry Road in East Windsor Wednesday.

The plane took off from but did not have enough power to climb and ended up in a tree in a wooded, swampy area around 1:45 p.m., Chief Jim Barton said.

The pilot was not injured but had to be rescued by the special operations team of the Enfield Fire Department, which used high angled equipment to reach him, Barton said. The pilot refused treatment at the scene, Barton added.
