Amtrak officials are investigating an early Wednesday morning accident in which a pedestrian was stuck and killed by a train north of the Bridge Street and Main Street intersection.

Train No. 495, the Springfield Shuttle to New Haven, struck the pedestrian around 7:20 a.m., Christina Leeds, an Amtrak spokesperson said. No information about the pedestrian is available.

None of the 19 passengers and crew were injured in the incident, Leeds said. The passengers were bused to their final destination.

Because there is a single track at that location, train 470 was canceled and the passengers were bused to another location; number 490 was terminated in Hartford; and passengers on No. 493 were provided with alternative transportation, Leeds said.
