Monkey-Masked Gunman Strikes Again

The monkey-masked suspect who, police say, robbed a Windsor Locks Subway, may have just robbed a gas station at gunpoint.

Windsor Police say a man suspected of robbing a Rt. 75 gas station at gunpoint is also suspected of robbing the National Drive Subway Restaurant in Windsor Locks.

According to Windsor police, a man wearing an animal mask held up a Poquonock Avenue Mobile Gas station on Jan. 18, using a handgun to coerce the station clerk to give up cash.

According to police, the suspect entered the gas station store, located across from the Buffalo Wild Wings and Price Chopper plaza, at 11:59 p.m., brandished a handgun and ordered the store clerk to get behind the counter, open the cash register and lay on the floor.

The suspect then removed the cash from the register, took several packs of cigarettes and then "calmly left the store and ran south on Poquonock Avenue," police report.

Police say a department K-9 tracked the suspects scent down Poquonock Avenue before losing the trail at the Allstate Insurance office.

Windsor Police are asking anyone with information about the incident or the individual pictured to contact the Windsor Police Department by calling 860-688-5273.

Police say the suspect stands approximately 6 feet tall and was last seen wearing dark clothes, work gloves, light-colored sneakers a jacket that may have been inside out and a full animal mask.
