East Windsor Teen Charged With Making Explosives Appears in Court

Kyle Bass, 18, faces numerous charges for allegedly manufacturing explosives.

The East Windsor teen accused of making veiled threats against his Bloomfield magnet school and manufacturing explosives was arraigned Monday in Superior Court in Enfield, according to WFSB.

Kyle Bass, 18, has been charged with criminal attempt to manufacturing bombs, illegal possession of explosives, possession of a silencer/sawed off shotgun, sale of fireworks without permission and breach of peace.

Bass did not speak at the arraignment, WFSB reported, but his lawyer, public defender Scott Abkowicz, denied allegations allegedly levied by Father Paul Gotta, an East Windsor priest.

Gotta reportedly tipped off police about Bass making threats against his school, the Metropolitan Learning Center, as well as mentioning several recent violent incidents that drew national attention.

The defendant had made references to both the Newtown shootings and the Boston Marathon bombings in his anger toward the school, the Metropolitan Learning Center," state’s attorney Debra Collins said, according to WFSB.
