East Windsor Man in Critical Condition After Car Falls Off Jack Onto Him

Witnesses lifted the vehicle off Daniel Lopez's chest before he was taken by ambulance to Hartford Hospital, according to East Windsor police.

A 33-year-old Broad Brook man was rushed to the hospital Saturday morning after a vehicle he was working on fell on his chest when a jack gave way, according to East Windsor police.

Daniel Lopez of Mill Pond Village was working on his father-in-law's 2011 Dodge Intrepid 4-door sedan at 11:19 a.m. using a standard jack to elevate the vehicle so that he could replace a front disc break. While Lopez was tightening a bolt he caused the car to come off the jack, landing on top of him, police said.

Witnesses and others came to his aid and were able to lift the sedan off of Lopez's upper torso and pull him from beneath the vehicle, police said.
