Traveling on Ella Grasso Turnpike (Route 75) near Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks just got a bit tougher during the Thanksgiving holiday rush.

The section of the road between Spring and North streets is closed because of downed power lines and damage to a pole. The damage is the result of an early morning car accident in which the driver fled the scene, according to the Hartford Courant.

Windsor Locks police did not know how long the road will be closed or how long CL&P crews would be at the scene replacing the pole.

For now, drivers are being detoured around the scene by using North Street to Smalley Road to Spring Street.

According to the Connecticut Light and Power website, just 24 of the company's 6,274 customers are without power as of 12:17 p.m.
