Authorities Euthanize Bear That Made its Way Over to Bradley Air National Guard Base (Updated)

Bear was spotted wandering around Windsor Locks throughout the day.

A bear that was first spotted around 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning and was seen wandering around Windsor Locks throughout the day, eventually made its way over to a taxi terminal near Bradley Air National Guard Base and has been euthanized by authorities, according to nbcconnecticut.com.

The bear was euthanized around 10 p.m. Thursday night after state and airport police worked to keep it away from the airport.

DEEP spokesman Dennis Schain told the New Haven Register that the bear had been spotted in the vicinity of the airport for the past few days and was a safety risk to aircraft.

Schain also said that euthanizing the bear was necessary for aircraft safety.
