To the Tax Payers and Towns People of Windsor Locks. Do you know what the starting salary is to hire a CERTIFIED POLICE OFFICER vs. giving Your Son or Daughter an opportunity to have a career in law enforcement as a Windsor locks Police Officer? Would you be willing to work for the Town if you could get a $6,000/yr. pay increase in less than a year? Would you like to work an average of 37 1/2 hours a week compared to 40 hours a week for the average Joe? Would you accept a job that allows you to work a continuous (4) days on followed by (2) days off schedule. On 7/10/13 I responded to Police Commissioner Lanati's question about why Chief Osanitch already has (18) applications from Certified Officers to come and work for our town. My answer to the Police Commissions is that Windsor Locks P.D works a 4-2 work schedule which averages out to a 37 1/2 hour work week. That many of these Certified Officers are looking to garner a 2nd Pension and perhaps get in their Social Security Hours in. The overall benefit package is very attractive as well. I said, tongue in cheek, that these Certified Officer wanted to come to Windsor Locks to help reduce' OUR HIGH CRIME RATE." The starting salary for a Certified Officer is $65.950.76 and can/or will be raised to $71,335.26 in as little as (3) months. How is this logic justified?? Yes, the Up Time is shortened and we get more experienced Officers on the street sooner. But how about the BUDGETARY COST OF WAGES IN NEXT YEARS BUDGET WHEN THE POLICE COMMISION REQUESTS MORE MONEY?? Our Police Dept. truly needed some revamping and some New Leadership. The needs of our Police Officers and that of the Police Dept. have been undervalued and ignored for years now! But how can you excuse the the performance of these Police Commissioner, whose job is” oversight” of the Police Dept., In my opinion they have failed miserably!! How can they fire Sgt Koistinen and let John Suchocki retire with a Pension when the Rudiwicz Report clearly placed Leadership Failure on Suchocki??? Our new Police Commission Chairman Kevin Brace appears to be on a Power Trip. Sensationalizing every crime that occurs in Windsor Locks in an effort to convince YOU THE TAX PAYER that Crime is running rampant in Windsor locks and that we have an IMMEDIATE NEED for a Crime Suppression Unit. WE CAN ALWAYS DO MORE TO FIGHT CRIME!! BUT AT WHAT COST??? I would like you to consider what I have said as I am trying to make you more knowledgeable regarding Police Dept. matters. Chairman Brace continues to manipulate things and is attempting to be UNACCOUNTIBLE to anyone. I will shortly post a video on YOUTUBE/Windsor Locks. Do you think that you should get an answer about the progress of the Revising of the 1969 Rules/Reg that are apparently in DIRE NEED OF UPDATING???? Do you feel that you should get a straight answer when you ask a legitimate question?? WOULD YOU ACCEPT A THANK YOU FOR YOUR INPUT AND HAVE YOUR QUESTION IGNORED AND NEVER ANSWERED????? WOULD YOU ACCEPT BEING REFUSED TO BE PUT ON THE POLICE COMMISSION AGENDA WHEN YOU HAVE REQUESTED TO EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO SPEAK WITH THEM? WOULD YOU ACCEPT (3) MINUTES TO MAKE A STATEMENT UNDER PUBLIC INPUT??? WOLD YOU LIKE AN OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW THE NEW CODE OF CONDUCT FOR OFFICERS BEFORE THEY ARE FORMALIZED???? ASK COMMISSIONER BRACE WHY HE HAS CHOSEN TO STOP RECORDING POLICE COMMISSION MEETNGS. Let me make it clear, my concern is not with the men and women of our Police Dept. who deserve our support and gratitude! My concerns are with the shady deceitful way that the Police Commission conducts business. Did you know what the cost to hire a Certified Officer and deny your son or daughter an opportunity to have a career in Law Enforcement? Did they tell you about the impact it will have on your wallet ? I need more Towns People to attend Police Commission Meeting so that you can judge for yourself. If you can't make it to the meetings please watch the videos that I have posted under Windsor Locks on YOUTUBE. I am pretty positive that you will not like what you will see!! So, I am asking you to draw your own conclusions. Please join me at the next Police Commission Meeting and ask them, Why Is My Son or DAUGHTER BEING DENIED AN OPPORTUNITY TO COMPETE FOR A JOB AND CAREER AS A WINDSOR LOCKS POLICE OFFICER?????
