Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Windsor Locks and East Windsor

The storm is expected to bring 3 to 5 inches of snow to the Windsor Locks and East Windsor area throughout the day Saturday.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for northern Connecticut and parts of western Massachusetts Saturday due to a storm moving up the Eastern Seaboard that is expected to hit the area sometime tomorrow morning.

The storm, which is expected to hit Connecticut around 10 a.m. Saturday morning and linger into Sunday, could drop an estimated three to five inches of snow over that period, according to the National Weather Service.

"A winter weather advisory is issued when snow and/or ice is forecast to develop in the affected areas," the National Weather Service said.

In addition to the snow, the weather service says the storm could bring temperatures in the mid-20s, winds gusts up to 25 miles per hour, poor visibility at times and treacherous driving conditions.

"When temperatures are below freezing, motorists need to be especially careful on bridges and overpasses where slipper spots can easily develop," the National Weather Service said.

The winter weather advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday.
