Late Winter Storm Hits Windsor Locks, East Windsor

With one day to go before the official start of spring, the storm is expected to bring between four and eight inches of snow, sleet, and freezing rain, has delayed the start of or closed school and made travel difficult.

Spring may be in the air, but don't put those shovels, boots and scrapers away yet.

The winter storm warning that went into effect Monday afternoon remains in place for the region, according to the National Weather Service as the storm that is estimated to have dropped several inches of wet, heavy snow and sleet will also bring with it freezing rain this morning.

"The final snowfall totals will be determined by the timing of the transition from all snow to mixed precipitation," the meteorologists stated in the advisory. "There will likely be a high impact on the Tuesday morning commute across much of interior Southern New England."
