Sunny Thursday, WL Fire Department's Annual Memorial Service, EW Annual Veterans Day 5K Race

Five Things for Thursday.

 

1. Hello Thursday, it will be sunny with a high temperature of 60 degrees, according to The Weather Channel. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low temperature of 42 degrees.

2. On This Day in: 1776, during the American Revolution the first naval battle of Lake Champlain was fought. The forces under Gen. Benedict Arnold suffered heavy losses; 1890, The Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in Washington, DC; 1932, in New York, the first telecast of a political campaign was aired; 1939, President Franklin D. Roosevelt was presented with a letter from Albert Einstein that urged him to develop the U.S. atomic program rapidly; and 1975, "Saturday Night Live" was broadcast for the first time. George Carlin was the guest host.

3. The Windsor Locks Fire Department’s annual memorial services will be held at 3:45 p.m. October 27. Mass will be at 4:30 p.m. at St. Roberts Church.

Dinner and refreshments will be served immediately following church services at the firehouse.

4. The 13th Annual East Windsor Veterans Day 5K Road Race will take place at 10 a.m. on November 10. Here is a link to more information.
