Stormy Weather Tuesday, 5K Road Race on Veterans Day, WL October Festival Coming Up

Five Things for a Tuesday.

 

1. Hello Tuesday, today will have gusty breezes and rain showers early, with a high temperature of 75 degrees and thunderstorms later in the day, according to The Weather Channel. Tonight will have a low temperature of 61 degrees with a 100 percent chance for rain.

2. On This Day in: 1709, the creator of the first dictionary of the English language, Samuel Johnson, was born in England; 1789, Alexander Hamilton negotiated and secured the first loan for the United States. The Temporary Loan of 1789 was repaid on June 8, 1790 at the sum of $191,608.81; 1793, President George Washington laid the actual cornerstone of the U.S. Capitol; 1851, he first issue of "The New York Times" was published; 1947, the U.S. Air Force was established as a separate military branch by the National Security Act; and 1998, the U.S. House Judiciary Committee voted to release to videotape of President Clinton's grand jury testimony from August 17.

3. The 13th Annual East Windsor Veterans Day 5K Road Race will take place at 10 a.m. on November 10. Here is a link to more information.

The Annual Windsor Locks October Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. October 14, 2012 at Noden Reed Park.  Highlights will feature a food, crafts, vendors, free pony rides & activities for kids, pumpkins, live music along with a Farmer's Market and entertainment for all ages. To view flyer, click.
