Please Leave Han Solo Alone, East Windsor, Windsor Locks Meeting Skeds

Here are five things going on in the area today.

Good morning, Windsor Locks and East Windsor! Today is Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013; there are 322 days left in the year.

Dear People Who Control Star Wars Movies (aka Disney):

I am fully prepared for you to completely destroy any meaningful memory that I have left from my childhood by ruining the Star Wars franchise. George Lucas pretty much did it with the three God-awful prequels he produced in the early to mid 2000s.

I understand that there is going to be a Star Wars Episode VII, which is expected to be helmed by J.J. Abrams. That’s a nice start to at least making the film somewhat palatable.

I also hear that you are doing breakout movies based on individual characters, because, you know, you didn’t buy the name Star Wars for $600 gagillion to look at old C3PO action figures. You bought the name Star Wars because you want to recoup your $600 gagillion investment and make another $1.5 million gagillion.

Hence the breakout movies.

I have one request. Please, please, please leave Han Solo alone. He’s the baddest of the badasses. And Harrison Ford was perfect for that character.

Don’t make an individual backstory about a young Han Solo, played by someone else. Leave him alone. You’ll only ruin him, thereby detonating a nuclear warhead on the last vestiges of anything decent from my first 10 years.

Thank you.
