Plane Diverted to Bradley Lands Safely

The passengers and crew of the US Airways Express commuter plane remain at the Windsor Locks airport.

A faulty brake indicator light caused a commuter plane to land at Bradley International Airport this morning at 8:45 while en route to its final destination in New York.

Bradley Air Traffic Control received a message from the crew of the plane that originated in Greensboro, NC, at 8:30 a.m., requesting to land after they noticed a brake temperature indicator warning light illuminate in the control panel of the aircraft, owned by Trans States Airlines, according to hospital spokesman John Wallace. The plane's final destination was intended to be LaGuardia Airport.

Bradley firefighters, emergency crews and other operations staff were put on standby and waited for the plane, which landed safely and without incident 15 minutes later, Wallace said. The aircraft was able to taxi to a gate on its own power.
