My Secret Weapon Part III, Movie in East Windsor, Windsor Locks' New England Air Museum

Here are five things going on in the area today.

Good morning, Windsor Locks and East Windsor! Today is Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday, party and party and party and YEAH! Party and party and party and YEAH! Feb. 22, 2013; there are 312 days left in the year.

Yesterday I went to my secret weapon, 14-year-old Community Editor Elyssa Millspaugh (Ed. Note: Ted, stop. She’s 24 and she’s your colleague at Patch), to help decipher some tricky language that is bandied about by our youth.

Elyssa is in high school (Ed. Note: Ted, knock it off. She’s a college graduate who has worked with you for over a year) and, therefore, serves as the Rosetta Stone between me and the kids I cover.

So, when I hear a sentence like this:

“I totes look like a slob-kebob today. Whatevs.”

Elyssa provides the following translation:

“I don’t look my best today, but I really don’t mind.”

Here’s your Daily 5:

1. February school vacation activities at the New England Air Museum at 10 a.m.

2. The Warehouse Point Library, 107 Main St., East Windsor, will show The Bridge to Terabithia at 1 p.m.

3. A Lincoln Portrait is all day at the Wood Memorial Library in South Windsor.

4. Tot Ballet in East Windsor at 5:30 p.m.

5. The Opera House Players will present the upbeat musical HAIRSPRAY from Feb. 9 - 24, at the Broad Brook Opera House, 107 Main St., Broad Brook.
