Five Things to Know for Monday!

 

1. Hey it’s Monday, aren’t glad to be back to work? Today it will be sunny with a high temperature of 65 degrees, according to The Weather Channel. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low temperature of 45 degrees.

2. On This Day in: 1746, the College of New Jersey was officially chartered. It later became known as Princeton University; 1907, the Panic of 1907 began when depositors began withdrawing money from many New York banks; 1934, Charles "Pretty Boy" Floyd, the notorious bank robber, was shot and killed by Federal agents in East Liverpool, Ohio; 1939, the first televised pro football game was telecast from New York. Brooklyn defeated Philadelphia 23-14; 1962, President John F. Kennedy went on radio and television to inform the United States about his order to send U.S. forces to blockade Cuba. The blockade was in response to the discovery of Soviet missile bases on the island.; and 1981, the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization was decertified by the federal government for its strike the previous August.

4. The Windsor Locks Fire Department’s annual memorial services will be held at 3:45 p.m. October 27. Mass will be at 4:30 p.m. at St. Roberts Church.

Dinner and refreshments will be served immediately following church services at the firehouse.
