Candy Junkie, East Windsor Referendum & Rain, Again

Here is a look at five things you might be interested in today, Tuesday, June 12.

1. The morning will be pleasant, but the rain is expected to return this evening, according to the National Weather Service. Don't worry though, for today at least it's just a 30 percent chance of showers, although later tonight weather experts are calling for heavy downpours.

Polls are open at the East Windsor Town Hall and Town Hall Annex from noon until 8 p.m. The budget proposal is $33.9 million, or 1.97 more when compared to the current year's expenditure and revenue plan.

4. If you're up for a round of golf and love playing in tournaments, the North Central Connecticut Chamber of Commerce is looking for people to participate in its Crestview Country Club in Agawam, MA.

It costs $125 per golfer for the 18-hole scramble tournament. The price of admission includes a golf cart, lunch and dinner and green fees. For more information contact the chamber.

5. On this day in 1987, President Ronald Reagan famously told his Russian counterpart, Mikhail Gorbachev, to "tear down this wall" at the American president stood at the wall that had separated East Berlin from West Berlin for 26 years.

Slightly more than two years after his speech, residents of both sides of the city began to dismantle the concrete barrier that had restricted access between the democratic and communist sections of the city.
