Thanksgiving Fun Continues Throughout the Weekend
Transition from Thanksgiving to the Christmas holidays with these activities in the East Windsor and Windsor Locks area this weekend.
The New England Air Museum
On Friday, November 23 Santa's workshop comes to the New England Air Museum. Santa, his favorite Christmas elf, and Frosty the Snowman will meet and pose for photos with children between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Elf will also be making balloon animals, cotton candy, and Santa will have a gift for each child. The Museum will also be conducting ‘Behind-the-Scenes’ tours of various exhibits. http://www.neam.org
Markowski Tree Farm

Get the tree and trimmings underway with a visit to the Markowski Tree Farm at the corner of Babbs Road and Mountain Road. Trees are $35 with free horse-drawn wagon rides. Call 860-668-2881 for more information.

Visit the historical home at 55 South Main Street in Suffield on Friday and Saturday November 23-24 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Travel through centuries of Connecticut history with friends and family, visit the museum shop for the best of local artisans and period-inspired gifts, and sip cider. Kids can make a gift for mom or dad in the Phelps-Hatheway Visitor Center.

Springfield Museums, Springfield MA
Forget shopping and head up to Springfield Museums November 23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the start of the Christmas season in the Quadrangle. Visit the Gingerbread Fairy Tales exhibit and meet holiday puppet characters including Frosty, Rudolph, Elmer Elf, Suzy Snowflake and a juggling Christmas tree during a special performance of Santa’s North Pole Express by the Wayne Martin Puppets at 2 p.m. Stay until 4:30 p.m. and see the living art Winter Birch Tree performance by TEN31 Productions.
A free and fun holiday event continues in the Quadrangle and the Dr. Seuss Gardens from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the annual Lighting Ceremony and refreshments.
Ongoing Activities
- Take a ride in a horse-drawn wagon pulled by retired, homeless work horses from Blue Star Equiculture Draft Horse Sanctuary in Palmer.
- Meet and take pictures with Santa and the Grinch.
- See a living art installation by TEN31 Productions. (through 6:30 pm)
- Listen to holiday carols and a performance by the band from Springfield’s High School of Science and Technology.
- Explore the Gingerbread Fairy Tales special exhibition.
Santa and his elves are at the museum all weekend long for sharing wish lists and making crafts.
