La Renaissance Foreclosure Sale Postponed

The banquet facility's foreclosure sale has been postponed for the third time since the original February 2013 date, according to court documents.

The foreclosure sale of the popular banquet facility on Route 5 in East Windsor was canceled this past weekend after a late motion was granted to postpone the sale.

On April 15, slightly less that two weeks before the sale was scheduled, Superior Court Judge Robert F. Vacchelli approved a motion change the sale date to July 20. No reason was given for the change in court documents filed on the state judicial website.

In February, a judge ordered a strict foreclosure sale of the properties at 53, 55-59 Prospect Hill Road and scheduled it for April 27. The sale had been initially scheduled for Feb. 9, but because of he blizzard, the date was postponed, according to court records.

Tuesday evening, three days after the sale was to have taken place, the facility sat empty with just security lights on inside and a tractor trailer parked in its lot.

The new sale date is just more than one year after foreclosure proceedings began on the property, according to the state judicial website.

In July 2012, Peoples United Bank filed paperwork with the state superior court claiming that Dharamshi, LLC, Vachhani, Bhatt and several others listed as owners of the properties and holders of two mortgages, owed the bank more than $2.2 million, according to court documents.

That November, Judge M. Nawaz Wahla ordered a strict foreclosure on the properties and assigned Constantine Constantine, Esq., of Glastonbury, as the committee to oversee the sale, noting that the fair market value, at that time, for one parcel, which has the banquet center, was $3 million, while another parcel, that has a floral shop, was $160,000.
