Award-winning Concept Helicopter Visiting New England Air Museum

Sikorsky will display X2 Technology Demonstrator on October 1 and 2.

Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation is displaying its X2 Technology demonstrator helicopter at the on October 1and 2.
 
The X2 was the 2010 winner of the Collier Trophy, an annual award given by the National Aeronautic Association recognizing the year’s greatest accomplishment within the aviation industry for achievement in aeronautic excellence, according to a press release.
 
This state-of-the-art, single-pilot aircraft set an unofficial speed record for helicopter flight of 250 knots in level flight. Technology used in developing this aircraft will now be used in future Sikorsky rotorcraft designs.
 
“This is a tremendous honor that recognizes the hard work, dedication, skill and vision of many people,” Sikorsky President Jeffrey P. Pino said in a press release.  “Sikorsky has a long and storied history of innovation, starting with the invention of the world’s first practical helicopter and continuing today with the X2 Technology.” 

“We are thrilled to showcase this aircraft, and grateful to Sikorsky Corporation for choosing us as a venue,” said Mike Speciale, Executive Director of New England Air Museum, in a statement.
 
Viewing of the X2 is included with regular admission to the museum.  Sikorsky employees and their families may gain free admission on October 1 and 2 with display of their employee I.D. Visit the Museum’s website at www.neam.org for details.

The New England Air Museum is owned and operated by the Connecticut Aeronautical Historical Association, a private, non-profit educational institution organized in 1959. Located at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, the museum is the largest aviation museum in New England.
